How it works

1

Describe the melody

Type a genre, a mood, a tempo or a key, like “sad R&B chords in C minor, 80 bpm”. Ask for a melody or for chords.

2

Get four takes and play them

Melody Generator writes four different takes. Play each one in your browser and like the ones you want to keep.

3

Download the MIDI

Drop the .mid file into your DAW, put your own sound on it and build the beat around it.

Works with your DAW

Every take is a standard MIDI file, so it opens anywhere you make beats.

Made for producers

4 or 8 bar loops

Loop-ready clips in the lengths you build beats with, with no empty bars.

Key, scale, tempo, genre, feel

Set them yourself, or let your prompt fill them in and change what you like.

Melodies and chords

Ask for a lead line or a chord progression. Hip hop, R&B and trap come first.

Edit everything after export

It's MIDI: change notes, transpose, swap the sound or chop it up in your DAW.

Want to know what happens between your words and the notes? Read how text to MIDI works, with prompts you can copy. Making something slow and emotional? Start from one of these sad chord progressions, each with chord names and a MIDI download. Need chords for a beat right now? Built by a producer

Melody Generator is made by Trevor Satori, who produced as Danberry for Boosie Badazz, MO3, Nafe Smallz, Teejay3k and NorthSideBenji ft. Houdini (“Levels”, certified Gold in Canada). It's built around how beats usually start: a 4 or 8 bar loop you drop into your DAW.
